“Hypocrites have just as much right to live in this world as anybody.”
Atticus saving the day as always.
I just finished Go Set A Watchman by Harper Lee.
Reading this book as a sequel to the previous is the mistake everyone has been making. It’s an entirely different take on Scott’s life and perspective. The roots of which lie in To Kill a Mockingbird, of course but the essence remains unique.
Personally, i was afraid of having to encounter a completely changed and a more ‘ladylike’ Scott but thankfully, her character is just the way it was.
A large chunk of the book is retrospective in nature (or at least that’s what it felt like while reading the book) which makes it much easier to connect with TKAM. Atticus surprises throughout but the climax of the movie quite literally blew my mind. Somewhere in my heart, i knew Atticus wouldn’t take any step without a reason.
By and large, a pleasant read. And a ‘must’ for those who’ve read TKAM!
Although, I’d choose TKAM over this any day (but that’s quite obvious hahah)
